On the track climbing Cairngorm Mountain coming up to the Ptarmigan Visitor Centre. The climb to this point will take about an hour, with the summit of the mountain still another half hour away. The effort is well worth while as the views over the Cairngorm plateau are breathtaking.

An excellent day out on Cairngorm mountain. Take the funicular railway to the Ptarmigan Visitor centre. You'll find an informative exhibition as well as restaurant and shop.

The viewing platform allows you to take in superb views over Loch Morlich to Aviemore, but be warned, if you want to visit the summit you're going to have to do it the hard way as access to the mountain is only allowed during the skiing season!

Aviemore Creag Mhor Cottage

Aviemore Creag Mhor Cottage. Creag Mhor (Gaelic for ‘big rock’) is a fully furnished and equipped home from home in the Highlands. Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac at the north end of Aviemore, it is an easy walk into or home from the village and it is close to the Aviemore orbital path. Creag Mhor will accommodate 4 people in comfort and consists of a sizeable lounge/dining area, fully fitted and equipped kitchen, large bathroom with bath and separate walk-in shower and two twin-bedded bedrooms.

As you would expect Creag Mhor has a dishwasher, washer-dryer, fridge freezer, microwave, TV with Sky box, DVD player and CD player. All bedding and towels are provided and electricity is included. There is also a good-sized, fully-enclosed, south-facing rear garden. From the barbecue and deck area you can enjoy panoramic views towards the Cairngorm Mountains and even check out the snow, or lack of it, on the ski slopes without leaving the house!

If you enjoy outdoor activities you will be pleased to know that there is drying space in the hot tank cupboard (for those occasional wet days) along with a drying line outside. There is also secure storage for bikes/skis/snowboards etc in the garden shed.
